Billingham Social Club - Billingham Town FC
Celebrating 50 Years of Football
ALEX LEEDS - GK (20)
Made his Debut back in March in Town's 3-0 win at Northallerton Town and went on to make nine appearances in the number one shirt. Alex has uncanny similarities in appearance and in stature with Bayern Munich great, Manuel Neuer! Excellent shot stopper, handling skills and intelligent ball distribution.
MARK HODGSON - GK
Trained with the Town squad at the back end of last season but has now made his stay a permanent one. Impressed observers during pre-season, making several superb saves against Hartlepool United and Spennymoor Town respectively. Will provide competition for the number one shirt, alongside Alex Leeds
MARK DIXON - LB (24)
Third Season at the club for the tough tackling left-back. The Northern League equivalent to Stuart Pearce and the 'psycho' persona to go with it! Billingham lad who can fill in for Captaincy duties. Solid and Mr reliable.
LEE MOORE - RB (20)
Hugely technically gifted left-back who deservedly won the Manager's Player Of The Year award for an outstanding 2016/17 season. Initially joined Town on-loan from Bishop Auckland but made the move a permanent one in October. Easy on the eye and excels at ball retention.
STEPHEN OAKLEY - DF (26)
Town's skipper and talisman at the heart of the defence. Third season at the club for the experienced Central Defender. The Viking 'Beserker' on the pitch, a gentle giant off it. A fine ambassador for the club and a fans favourite to boot!
GARY REDMAN - RB (25)
Versatile player who has virtually been at the club since Darren Trotter was the manager. Can play in a number of positions and possibly the best crosser of a ball at the club. Popular member of the squad and another fans favourite!
(On Loan from Hartlepool)
The young forward is currently on a year long work experience from Hartlepool United as Town continue to work along with the pools. Played in the pre-season friendly at Bedford Terrace and was enthusiastic in joining up with Oliver's squad. Exciting prospect.
CLAYTON MACDONALD - MD (24)
Second season at the club for the waspish midfielder. 'Scholsey' keeps things ticking over in the middle of the pitch. Excellent passer of the ball but has yet to score a goal and there will be ecstatic scenes if he manages to pull it off. The dressing room man with the witty one-liners!
ASHLEY LAVAN - MD (22)
Another midfielder in his sophomore season at the club. Strong and tidy on the ball; only scored the one goal last season but it was a cracker in the FA Vase tie at Ashton Town. Excellent work ethic and a superb attitude to go with it.
Missed the whole of last season with a spinal injury that required surgery. If he can remain free from injury, it would be like having a new signing, despite being at the club since Barry Oliver became manager. Honest player and knowledgeable of the game.
The former Hartlepool United man is well known within the North East non-league scene. Pivotal player during his spells with Durham City and Spennymoor Town when both clubs climbed the pyramid system. Barry Oliver came close to signing Ruddy on two separate occasions last season but finally got his man during the summer. Quality addition to the squad and should excel in this division.
Veteran player who has a vast amount of experience within the Northern League. Former Town, Billingham Synthonia & Norton Stockton Ancients midfield maestro. Although at 37 years of age, Jameson is still a superb reader of the game and will look to boss the middle of the park. A shrewd addition to the squad who has experience of winning the second division title while at Norton.
ELLIOTT BEDDOW - RW (20)
A big season to come from Elliott who will have benefited from last seasons experiences. Impressed on the the right wing and wasn't afraid to get stuck in and took some knocks in the process. A natural finisher with pace to burn; his future could be as a striker as he showed at Tow Law on the final day of the season. Possibly doesn't realise his talent and potential yet but the world is his oyster. One to watch!!
CHRISTOPHER DICKINSON - ST (22)
Played last season in a deep second striker role and scored 24 goals in the process. Supplied numerous assists and pivotal in dead ball situations. Vastly experienced for his age having spent time with York City and Annan Athletic in the Scottish league. Worked hard in pre-season and the new super slimline attacker could surpass last season's stats.
DANNY LAMBERT - ST (23)
Impressed during pre-season this time last year but season was curtailed in September with a Spinal injury. Observers rated him as the 'best player in the Northern League' several years ago and still only twenty three years of age. If Danny can regain his fitness and love for the game, he should take this division by storm.
CONNOR DUNLAVEY: 22
Initially struggled with hamstring problems on arrival from Spennymoor Town back in September. Finished last season in superb form, terrorising full-backs and scoring some excellent goals. Will have benefited from the rigours of Northern League football and a big season is on the horizon. Expect plenty of assists!
Languid but hugely talented forward. Represented Republic Of Ireland at youth level. Summer season having caught the eye playing for Durham City last season. Had spells in division one with West Allotment Celtic and Ashington but suffered with injuries. Returned to Durham towards the end of last season and scored the only goal that was enough to defeat Town 1-0 (also dispossessed Jamie Davis causing a red card!) Quick, athletic and a fine striker of the ball.
Central midfielder who played for Rotherham United's development side. Neat and tidy on the ball and can cover a lot of distance during the ninety minutes. Summer signing.
20 year old 6ft 5 striker currently on-loan from Spennymoor Town. Scored six goals in three games last season in the Wearside League while at Harton & Westoe. Played upfront and at centre half during pre-season
Left-sided winger who spent last season with the reserves. One of Paul Beddow's youngsters who caught Barry Oliver's eye. Registered and added to the first team squad.
Young keeper who trained with the first team squad towards the back end of last season. Had a ten minute run-out against Whitby Town in pre-season. Will benefit from further experience as the season progresses.
6ft 4 central defender who plays for the reserves. Back up for the first team squad and made his debut against Pickering Town in the FA.Cup. Could figure in the early months of the season.
Talented young winger who began his northern league career at Stokesley. Caught the eye of near neighbours Marske United who regularly finish in the top six amongst the division one big boys. Registered for Newton Aycliffe in pre-season but joined Town days before the season kick-off. Quality player who will be a great addition once he reaches full fitness.
