Billingham Town Football Club
Town ended their mini North Yorkshire sojourn with two victories. On Wednesday night, Assistant Manager Graham Popple took charge against Guisborough Towns Development Squad which included several first team players. Despite a tardy start and going in at half time two behind, Town recovered well and dominated the second period to win 3.2. Craig Hutchinson scored with a tap in and Daniel Lambert struck with a powerful low drive. Jamie Davis got the winner after Hutchinson did well to dispossess the keeper inside the sixteen yard box.
On Saturday, Town defeated Redcar Newmarket of the Teesside League 4.2. Barry Oliver was back in charge and decided to attack with a diamond formation. Both Daniel Lambert and Craig Hutchinson scored a brace and there was a welcome return for Chris Dickinson. After four friendly matches, Oliver and Popple will now decide who will be apart of the squad moving forward towards the remaining four friendlies.
Meanwhile, the reserves were in action at Esh Winning. Despite going down to ten men after thirty five minutes, Town won 3.1 with Elliott Beddow netting twice and Marcus Allen also on the score sheet. The eye-catching result followed the midweek 5.1 win against Hartlepool Welfare Athletic. Trialist, John Stokle scored twice in the second half and Reece Morris added a fifth after Carl O'Sullivan had bagged a brace in the first half.
The first team will now prepare for Wednesday nights away fixture against West Auckland Town and the reserves will test themselves further when they face Redcar Athletic in Eston.
