FOCUS ON AMATEUR

The Ammers finished fifth in their inaugural season in the North East Counties Premier division having predominantly spent most of the clubs duration in division one (step 6). Like ourselves they didn’t qualify for the FA Cup and they also lost in the First Qualifying round in The FA Vase to West Allotment Celtic. As a form guide, they were beaten at home to Whitley Bay in pre-season. They began their league campaign last Saturday with a 3-0 win at Barton Town. Joint Managers Phil Harding and Neil Sibson have openly said they’re aiming for another promotion by recruiting the likes of Ross Daily & Aiden Savory from Farsley Celtic - plus Steve Smith & Niall Heaton from Guiseley. Goal threats come from Ashley Flynn along with winger Fernando Moke. Others to note include Frank Zalo, Alhassane Keita and Stephen Crawford.

ONE TO WATCH: AIDEN SAVORY
Thirty One year old striker who’s former clubs include Harrogate Town, Bradford Park Avenue, Farsley Celtic and Tadcaster Albion. Signed during the summer and already in good form, netting eight times during pre-season.

TALKING TOWN:
Kris Summers will be suspended due to the red card he received against Stockton Town but will be back for next weeks two home league fixtures. Both Lewis McDonald and James Frazer are back and so to will be Matty Robinson who works away in midweek. Mark Dixon and Stephen Oakley are unavailable while Dan Flounders is unlikely to figure having failed a fitness test on Tuesday night. There was good news in midweek as Reece Kenney made a surprise return along with Kurtis Howes. Ash Lavan is the only long term absentee.
